Morning Meds with Izzy Herriette & Co - Thursday - JAN 27, 2011
Isaiah 51:21-23 - Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine. Thus saith the Lord and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again. But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over; and thou hast laid thy body as the ground and as the street, to them that went over.
I will never forget the first time my eyes read these verses! How they went directly into my heart and exploded there. In those days (and still to this day) I was so in need of HELP that I would literally clutch the Bible, which contained these words, to my body. At times I could be found walking through my home, holding that book tightly to my bosom and lifting up the words that I had just read there on it's pages; calling forth the message in effort that it would not only penetrate my very being and remain there but that it would also manifest itself in my life. I have been known to sleep with His Word next to me, clinging to it with my very life.
The promises of God have never failed me, when I've been faithful to press upon them for their purposed intent:
Isaiah 55:8-12 - For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth; and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater; so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Most of what I learned from the Word of God and directed to me, as a believer in Christ Jesus the Son, seemed in my estimation to be very, very good! I never knew that of the Lord, prior to the Holy Spirit teaching me truth. He opened my eyes to truly see what God was saying to us, as His people.
God went further in His Word to us, to guarantee that we could and should be recipients of those things that He spoke of, on our behalf. I can't articulate how that changed my life, my attitude, my perception of God; His Kingdom; and my place in all of it. For the first time in my existence, I had hope!
2 Corinthians 1:20 - For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him A'-men, into the glory of God by us.
I began immediately to take every promise written in His Word and to put my full and complete trust in His faithfulness to bring it to pass. I can tell you that He has not failed to do exactly that for me.
Today, with so much unrest surrounding us ... so much uncertainty ... fear abounding ... wickedness abounding ... bad news abounding ...
Remember these words:
2 Corinthians 9 - 8 - And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. (Read 2 Cor 9:6-15)
How can we stand around paralyzed with fear and anxiety, when His Word speaks these things to us? That will only happen if we are not founded in Him - if we have not allowed His Word to take deep root in our hearts, minds and lives - if our hope is not stayed upon Him and His promises to us.
Grow roots and stay planted!
Pray for the promise of that Isaiah 51:21-23 - for Israel - of whom it was spoken. This is her time ... Keep your eye on her and your prayers lifted up for her, that her enemies will not prevail against her.
Shalom
